1979 John Gatti Joins the Zaz

Jumping ahead to 1979

Please notice the handsome new guy, his name is John Gatti. I'm not sure just how many instruments John plays but, he came into the fold playing keyboards, flute and clarinet. Johnny plays the meanest Hammond B3 you ever want to hear! Yeah, the pedals too, when needed!

So, it's 1979 and we're on the streets looking to add a keyboard player and John was just finishing up a few years with the “Good Rats”. We jammed a couple of times, done deal. Besides being a killin' player John's a Killin' songwriter and he's a wonderful cat to hang with. You do have to be careful though, when you're out fishing with him. My advice is to pass on getting in a canoe with the man.

I wish this photo was in color because I was wearing my favorite Italian Red Leather shoes. I picked them up at a shop around the corner from the Bottom Line. Man, I loved my red leather shoes!

Well, at this point I think it would be fun to drop in a video. Here we are performing  our version of a Jazz Classic. Maestro Gatti brought down the house with a burnin' Clarinet solo ...

Swinging, eh!
